Outback Steakhouse in Akron closes after 30 years

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) — The Outback Steakhouse restaurant along Montrose West Avenue in Akron has closed after 30 years in business, a company spokesperson confirmed in a statement to FOX 8 News.

“Closing a restaurant is never easy. This was a business decision that is not a reflection of the management or staff,” reads a statement. “We appreciate the community’s support over the past 30 years and hope to see you at our Macedonia or Cuyahoga Falls locations.”

Wendy’s says no plans for ‘surge pricing’

The business gave some employees an opportunity to transfer to another location and a severance package to the others.

There are 11 other Outback Steakhouse locations in Northeast Ohio, according to the chain’s website:

  • Canton

  • Cuyahoga Falls

  • Independence

  • Macedonia

  • Mansfield

  • Mentor

  • Niles

  • Parma

  • Strongsville

  • Westlake
