Outdoor notes: Spring still shoots, Whitetail and Safari clubs' banquets

Spring still shoots start Feb. in Shreve

SHREVE − Spring still shoots will be held at the Shreve Farmer's Sportsman Club beginning Feb. 5 and running every Sunday through April 30, except for Easter. Shoots begin at noon with registration starting around 11:30 a.m. The club shoots shot, .22 and slug. Try for a chance to win a variety of meat and cash prizes. The progressive jackpot is over $5,400.

Trout Unlimited meeting

The Clear Fork River Chapter of Trout Unlimited will meet at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, at First Presbyterian Church, 621 College Ave., Wooster. To join remotely via Zoom, send an email to cfrtu.rsvp@gmail.com. Indicate the meeting date and include name and email address. An email with an invitation will be returned.

There will be a discussion of chapter activities and a raffle of fly fishing equipment. The speaker will be Jerry Darkes, executive director of the Cleveland Museum of Natural History Trout Club. Darkes is a well-known writer and national fly fishing authority on fishing the Great Lakes region. He will discuss activities of the CMNH trout club, the Ohio brook trout restoration program and research on Lake Erie migratory smallmouth bass.

Whitetail Heritage of Ohio banquet

Whitetail Heritage of Ohio will hold its annual fundraiser banquet Saturday, March 18, at the Mt. Hope Event Center. Doors open at 2:30 p.m., with the progressive dinner from 4-7 p.m.

Safari Club International banquet

The Northern Ohio chapter of Safari Club International will hold its annual fundraiser banquet Saturday, March 4, at the Greystone Event Center, 50 Riffle Road, Wooster. A silent auction runs 3-6:30 p.m., with an open bar 4-9:30 p.m. and buffet dinner 6-7:30 p.m., followed by the live auction 7:30-10 p.m.
