Dec. 27—ALBANY — Outgoing Ward III Albany City Commissioner B.J. Fletcher sent the following letter to the citizens of Albany as she prepares to end an eight-year run with the commission:
I've taken some time during the holiday season to reflect on my years of being on this Earth, eight of them as an Albany City Commissioner.
I want to take time to tell God thank you for the time He has given me, and I surely want to thank Him for the season of holding the title of Ward III commissioner.
I have worked with some great city leaders, and regardless of how many of you may feel about their leadership, I want to remind you they are doing a job that none of us would or could do. As I have said before, we are a city with limitless problems and limited resources. That reminds me of the humble beginnings (hard times) I had growing up.
Truly, I don't remember ever having extra, but I don't remember our needs not ever being met. I have been blessed with some great constituents. And I do want to take this time to tell all of Albany and our surrounding neighbors and all of our city employees, Thank you. It's been my honor to truly serve you.
With much love and respect,
