The Detroit Grand Prix will return to the streets of downtown Detroit for the first time since 1991 on the weekend of June 2, and adding to the excitement will be performances from OutKast's Big Boi and a host of other acts in a series of free riverfront concerts.

The annual IndyCar racing event previously held on Belle Isle, officially titled the "Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear," promises a weekend of live music along Detroit’s riverfront at Hart Plaza.

A-Trak, Big Boi, Z-Trip and Steve Aoki are among performers who will entertain at The Detroit Grand Prix.

The Hart Plaza concerts will be free to the general public, organizers said.

“As we have said since we announced the return of the Grand Prix to its original home on the Streets of Downtown Detroit, this is going to be an event — not just a race,” said Michael Montri, president of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix. “With a great music lineup providing the soundtrack all weekend long in Hart Plaza, our fans are going to experience an entertainment-filled weekend that they will never forget here in the Motor City.”

Music will be featured all weekend as a variety of DJs, local bands and national acts hit the stage from noon to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday leading into pre-race activities and ceremonies for the Chevrolet INDYCAR Grand Prix NTT INDYCAR SERIES race.
