In the upcoming season of Outlander, there's one episode that might stick more strictly to the source material. Author Diana Gabaldon, who wrote the book series on which the popular Starz television show is based, has confirmed that she wrote the penultimate episode of the forthcoming season.

Gabaldon has been busy putting the finishing touches on her new Outlander novel, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, but she still managed to find time to help adapt her fifth book, The Fiery Cross, for television.

An avid Tweeter, Gabaldon shared the news on social media last fall.

"Since I missed [New York City Comic Con] I have a question for @Writer_DG," teased Outlander writer and executive producer Matthew Roberts.

"I know you’re working hard on Book 9 but have you found time to do anything else (say between 10 & 12)?"

Gabaldon responded, breaking the news. "What, you mean.....《drumroll》....like Ep 511? Why, yes...I think I -did- manage to squeeze that in, now you mention it..."

While it'll be a few months until we see the finished product, actress Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire Fraser on the series, is already hinting at good things to come.

"It is (no surprise) a brilliant Ep ... Can’t wait to start shooting it this week..!!" the actress tweeted back in October.

But Gabaldon is quick to point out that television is a collaborative process. "Well, do bear in mind that ALL the episodes go through multiple rewrites, during which people other than the original author may add or change things," she wrote, responding to a fan.

Season five of Outlander is set to premiere on February 16.
