Outlander is returning for its seventh season in June promising more adventures for Jamie and Claire Fraser.

But while season six ended on a massive cliffhanger with the couple being separated, new images released by the show are giving fans hope for a romantic reunion.

Fans will know that season six ended with Claire imprisoned in Wilmington and Jamie just having been rescued from the clutches of Richard Brown's Committee of Safety and now en route to save his wife.

The seventh season is set to premiere on Starz on Friday, June 16, with 16 episodes planned.

In January, Starz confirmed that Outlander is set to end with its eighth season, which will consist of 10 episodes.

But there's good news as the network already has a spin-off in the works, titled Outlander: Blood of My Blood.

The prequel show will focus on the story of Jamie's parents Ellen and Brian, who went through their own trials and tribulations of on their path to happiness.

Speaking about the series, showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts explained: "Outlander: Blood of My Blood is, at its heart, a love story. It will explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury, and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain."

"The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser's marriage vow to Claire, and there will be several names and faces that Outlander fans will know and recognise."

Outlander airs on Starz in the US, and streams on Lionsgate+ in the UK.
