The Outpost on Black Creek gets ready for back-to-school bash and new music festival.

FREEPORT — Music, fresh pizza and scenic views. The Outpost on Black Creek, a popular spot since the 1980s that closed for a few years in 2019, is open again and ready to serve as a family-friendly entertainment spot without traveling all the way to 30A.

As families get ready to return to school, The Outpost plans to to celebrate educators in Walton County with free pizza and live music, along with the announcement of a new music festival coming to the Emerald Coast.

History of The Outpost

The Outpost opened in the 1980s and was used as a general store. Motorcyclists began to hang out at the establishment and, over time, it came to be used by others as well.

The Outpost had come into a state of disrepair, and with the passing of a previous owner, the restaurant closed in 2019.

In December 2020, Chip Fife purchased the property and spent the next two years turning the facility into a top-tier entertainment establishment within the county, with the official re-opening day coming in November 2022.

What's new?

During the repair, Fife added more amenities for guests and customers to enjoy. The restaurant menu has been revamped to include New York-style, thin-crust pizza and subs baked fresh to order, as well as savory desserts such as a Key Lime Pie and freshly baked cookies. Future additions include an oyster bar and a drink bar with full-service.

Along with additional seating and a refreshed back deck, The Outpost offers live music from local artists. Next month, the first annual Black Creek Music Festival will span three days with music, local food trucks and scenic creek views.

Artists expected to perform at the festival include Tim Jackson's Storytellers Tour featuring Joe Murphy; The Full Band; Outro; Deltaphonic; and more.
