Over 100,000 Pounds Of Bacon And Deli Meat Turkey Are Being Recalled
Over 120,000 pounds of pork bacon and ready-to-eat turkey products are being recalled. According to a Friday press release, Blue Grass Quality Meats, a Kentucky-based company, released meat products that contain soy without having printed so on the label. This news follows a recall of over 500,000 pounds of pork just last week.
Soy is a known allergen, and without customers being alerted to its presence, could cause a potential health risk when ingested. The specific products included in the recall are Cajun-style bacon and ready-to-eat Cajun-style turkey breast products produced between October 29, 2018 and November 19, 2019.
This problem was discovered when one of Blue Grass Quality Meats' seasoning suppliers notified them that the main seasoning used on their Cajun-style products contains soy lecithin, when it originally was not supposed to contain soy.
Although there have been no confirmed cases of illness linked to these items, the USDA is concerned that some of these products may be in retailers' delis or customers' freezers. If you happen to have any of these items in your possession, either dispose of them or return them to the store you purchased from.
The recalled items were shipped to Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia, where they may have been sold in packages or used at delis.

Various weights of shrink-wrap packages containing “Troyer CAJUN STYLE TURKEY BREAST” with sell by dates from 7/18/19 to 1/21/20.
Various weights of vacuum sealed packages containing “Troyer CAJUN STYLE BACON” with sell by dates from 1/28/19 to 2/19/20.
