Over 2,800 cartons of cigarettes seized during traffic stop

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Drug Task Force seized illegal drugs and over 2,800 cartons of cigarettes during a traffic stop Friday.

According to officials, agents with the Highway Interdiction unit out of the 30th Judicial District conducted a traffic stop on a Ford F-350 on I-40 for a traffic violation.

A search of the vehicle revealed a 1/2 pound of Khat, an imported hallucinogenic drug with a high potential for abuse, and 2,861 cartons of untaxed cigarettes, reports say.

The items were seized and a man was arrested. The identity of the man has not been revealed.
