Over $860K worth of ‘improperly imported’ prescription drugs seized by US Customs in Cincinnati

United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers seized three shipments of Sildenafil pills and jelly on December 4, 5, and 9.

Sildenafil is commonly sold under its brand name, Viagra.

The three shipments transited through the Port of Cincinnati and contained 28,600 prescription pills and 700 jellies, a spokesperson for the United States Customs and Border Protection Public Affairs stated.

One of the three shipments contained “1,860 packets of 10 Sildenafil Citrate tablets, for a total of 18,600 pills,” the spokesperson said. The 18,600 pills were valued at $561,000 when legally sold in the United States. The shipment was headed for Snellville, Georgia.

The second and third shipment contained 10,000 Sildenafil pills and 700 flavored jellies, respectively, the spokesperson informed. The two shipments were valued at $305,000 when legally sold. The shipments were heading for the same address in Macomb, Illinois.

The improperly imported packages originated from India and Singapore, according to the spokesperson.

Officials warn against purchasing prescription drugs online as they may pose a risk to the customer’s health and “their wallet,” the spokesperson said.
