Major improvements planned for Rockhill Drive, Neshaminy Boulevard

PennDOT plans a series of improvements to benefit pedestrians and commuters, officials said.

For Neshaminy Boulevard, PennDOT plans on adding new sidewalks along the south side from Palton Road to Rockhill Drive to connect to the sidewalk constructed east of Rockhill Drive.

The right turn lane from southbound Neshaminy Boulevard onto Rockhill Drive will be milled, overlaid, and widened.

Northbound Neshaminy Boulevard will be widened to two lanes from the Rockhill Drive Intersection to the signalized Neshaminy Mall and Neshaminy Square intersection.  This will include the mill and overlay of the existing pavement and complete depth widening of the roadway.

New sidewalk will be added along the south side of Neshaminy Boulevard from Rockhill Drive to the signalized Neshaminy Mall and Neshaminy Square Intersection.

A center turn lane along Neshaminy Boulevard will be extended to the signalized Intersection at Neshaminy Mall and Neshaminy Square.

Neshaminy Boulevard will be restriped from the signalized Intersection at Neshaminy Mall and Neshaminy Square to the Bristol Road Intersection to provide for a travel lane in each direction plus the addition of a center turn lane.

A retaining wall will be constructed along the north side of Neshaminy Boulevard between the two mall access entrances.

PennDOT plans similar improvements for Rockhill Drive.

A second left turn lane will be constructed on Rockhill Drive to northbound Neshaminy Boulevard.

Rockhill Drive, south of the intersection with Neshaminy Boulevard, will be widened to match the additional lanes of Rockhill Drive to the north.

Mill and overlay are proposed from the Neshaminy Mall and Target Shopping Center Intersection to the intersection with Neshaminy Boulevard.

Sidewalk will be constructed along the Neshaminy Mall side of Rockhill Drive from the Route 1 Section RC2 northbound off-ramp to the intersection with Neshaminy Boulevard.

Stormwater management facilities are being assessed for the project, and permanent right-of-way acquisition is anticipated.

Temporary construction easements will be required for contactor access during construction, likely resulting in delays and detours.
