Overnight Minneapolis protesters clash with police

Four Minneapolis police officers have been fired over the death of Floyd, seen in a video from Monday lying face down in the street, gasping for air and groaning, "I can't breathe," while a white officer knelt on his neck.

After a time of peaceful protesting, the gathering took a turn around dusk as police in riot gear fired tear gas and non-lethal bean-bag rounds into the crowds while protesters hurled water bottles and other projectiles.

Video posted on social media and obtained by Reuters appears to show police firing flash grenades in an attempt to disperse crowd. According to the witness who posted the video, police were also using rubber bullets.

A series of police-involved shootings and killings of black men in recent years have triggered mass protests across the U.S. and led to the formation of the Black Lives Matter movement, which has demanded an end to an unjustified use of lethal force in minority communities.
