Overnight tornado leaves damage in Wayne

Several structures sustained heavy damage as a tornado moved through the town of Wayne before sunrise Tuesday.

There were no reports of deaths or injuries.

The National Weather Service said a survey team confirmed an EF2 tornado hit Wayne just before 5:30 a.m.

The Red Cross reported at least two homes were damaged by a tornado in McClain County. Red Cross workers were planning to deliver emergency supplies and assess damage.

The aid group said it would offer assistance at Wayne's First Baptist Church, 301 Brady Street, for anyone who may need support throughout the day.

Wayne Schools will be closed Tuesday as the storm knocked out power to much of the McClain County town about 45 miles south of Oklahoma City.

The tornado struck about 5:30 a.m.
