Overturned truck in Mahwah shuts down Route 287

The northbound side of Route 287 is completely shut down in Mahwah on Monday afternoon because of an overturned truck. The crash happened just north of Campgaw Road shortly after 11 a.m. near mile 64, according to state police.

While a spokesperson said the crash resulted in injuries, she did not comment on how many people were hurt nor whether anyone's condition was life-threatening, saying the matter remained under investigation and no further information was available.

While all lanes are closed northbound, only one lane of traffic is getting through on the southbound side. As of 12:15 p.m., numerous first responders, including state police and Mahwah police, as well as numerous ambulances and firetrucks were at the scene.

In a tweet, the New Jersey Department of Transportation advised drivers to plan an alternative route if traveling on 287. According to traffic maps, southbound traffic is stop-and-go all the way up to the New York border due to rubbernecking.
