‘Your Own Backyard’ just dropped its first Kristin Smart episode in 7 months. What’s in it?

The “Your Own Backyard” podcast just dropped its first episode in seven months.

But it won’t be its last.

According to a news release from creator Chris Lambert’s spokesperson, John Segale, it’s the “first chapter of a multi-chapter podcast and long-awaited conclusion” to the series, which is credited by law enforcement and Smart’s family with helping crack the case.

Lambert brought listeners weekly episodes of the 3-month trial in Salinas, which culminated in a murder conviction and 25-years-to-life-sentence for Paul Flores and acquittal for Ruben Flores, Paul Flores’ father.

In this episode, the release said, Lambert sits down with the team that prosecuted the Flores men to bring listeners an “inside look” into how the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s and District Attorney’s Offices brought the case to trial.

“Your Own Backyard,” a podcast by Chris Lambert about the disappearance of Kristin Smart, has drawn fresh attention to the missing Cal Poly student’s case.

Lambert has not released an episode since the prosecution finished its rebuttal arguments in October. According to the release, he embarked on a “monthlong tour” to interview major players in the trial.

The episode, titled “People vs. Flores: The Conclusion Part One” is available now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and at yourownbackyardpodcast.com.

Lambert has interviewed the Smart family and some of the jurors who decided the verdicts. They will be featured in future episodes, which are expected to come soon.
