PEORIA — The owner of a Vietnamese restaurant has been indicted for allegedly failing to report sales tax.

A Peoria County grand jury indicted Linh Luong, who is the owner of Thanh Linh, on charges of theft of governmental funds, sales tax evasion, and filing a fraudulent sales and use tax return.

The counts list allegations of filing a false return in August of 2017 and 2018 as well as November 2018 and January 2019. The evasion charge alleges the owner of the Main Street restaurant didn't report taxes from Dec. 20, 2012, until Feb. 20, 2019.

The theft of governmental funds charge is a felony that could send Luong to prison for up to 15 years, according to Illinois Complied Statutes. That charge alleges Luong didn't report sales tax that was collected at her store.

All charges are also eligible for probation, according to the state's website.
