Miniature golf is coming back to Bedford.

Mark Cain and Kimberly Mosier are co-owners of the future Freedom Fairway Miniature Golf Facility at 1841 Steven Ave.

The putt putt facility was closed by the previous owner decades ago. Cain and Mosier recently bought the facility, and hope to have it open sometime in August.

The new owners want to incorporate elements of Bedford into the course. Two holes are designated to be "Bedford North Lawrence High School" holes, with décor being donated by the high school. Bedford Middle School will also have a dedicated hole.

Mosier said she has spoken with the Lawrence County Museum, and they will donate stone sculpture with information about Lawrence County. Mosier said, "This (the putt-putt course) is for the community. We want to make it a good environment for families and kids. When I was a kid, I came out here with my parents."

Mosier said she and Cain were looking to open a store originally, but they decided to go by the old course to take a look. The previous owner happened to be there, and he said he would be interested in selling.

"So we were in the right place at the right time," Mosier said. Mosier mentioned that they eventually hope to erect a shelter house and will have live music at some point.

Mosier and Cain both have jobs, so they have been working hard in the evenings to get the facility ready.

Anyone who is interested in donating time or materials can contact Kimberly Mosier at 1-930-243-3137, or freedomfairwayminigolf@gmail.com.

The planned hours will be closed on Monday, open Tuesday-Thursday from 5-9 p.m., Friday 5-11 p.m., Saturday noon-11 p.m., and Sunday noon-5 p.m.

The announced opening and progress made can be traced on the Freedom Fairway Facebook page.
