Two “impactful” LGBTQ+ community leaders have been awarded Reaching Out MBA fellowships at Oxford’s Saïd Business School, the school announced Tuesday (June 15). Roni Belenki and Sanoma Jean will be the first recipients of ROMBA fellowships at Oxford Saïd and will join the 2021 MBA cohort.

The inaugural fellowships are available through a partnership between the school and Reaching Out MBA, a unique global network for LGBTQ+ MBA students. The fellowships award £20,000 to each recipient.

The fellowships promote the empowerment and representation of LGBTQ+ students at the School and as future leaders.

Belenki will join the Oxford MBA as a recent Master’s in Public Policy graduate from Columbia University. “We need to see LGBTQ+ people in key positions, as elected officials and in business leadership, because this is where decisions are made and around every table where decisions are made, we need to see this diversity,” she says. “Representation is also a value not just a method to achieve effective policy.”

Jean has worked in technology roles at KPMG and Tesla, and now works in finance tech at Google. “The impact for all of the community and the future of LGBTQ+ rights and legislation is monumental and catalyses the momentum of change in the right direction,” she says. “I hope that I can help the community that has been so supportive and amazing to me, become even more inclusive to all of our members, however they identify.”

Kathy Harvey, associate dean of Oxford’s MBA and executive degrees, said the school is dedicated to being an active ally for the LGBTQ+ community.

“We are excited to admit our first ROMBA scholars, who have already shown a huge amount of commitment to supporting those in the LGBTQ+ community, we look forward to seeing their impact as future leaders,” Harvey says.

Adds Aidan Currie, executive director for ROMBA: “Reaching Out MBA is excited to welcome Saïd Business School to the Fellowship Program for the 2021 Cohort. What began as a conversation between our staff and the Pride @ Saïd Club Leaders has developed into a committed partnership to support LGBTQ+ and active ally candidates. With Oxford Saïd being one of the leading business schools worldwide, the recognition and designation of the Reaching Out MBA Fellowship sends a message to all those who are LGBTQ+ and considering an MBA: You have the power to make positive change as part of the upcoming generation of leaders.”

ROMBA’s annual conference is slated for October 7-9 in Austin, Texas.

Trinity launches Ireland’s first triple-accredited distance learning Flexible Executive MBA

As demand for remote work and study sets in for the long-run, Trinity Business School launches “four years in the making” Flexible Executive MBA, only weeks after unveiling new state-of-the-art “Matrix Room.”

With 80% online delivery and 20% on-campus learning, the new Flexible Executive MBA will complement the existing Full-Time and Executive MBA programs already offered at Trinity. The two-year, part-time program will welcome its first cohort in September 2021, with applications currently open, and will bring together students from around the world via the Matrix Room, a state-of-the-art interactive hub developed exclusively for the program.

As Ireland’s first distance learning MBA, the Flexible Executive MBA reflects a period of significant growth for Trinity Business School which has seen the school gain Triple Accreditation and experience numerous rankings successes. With triple-accreditation status, Trinity Business School is among the top 0.6% of business schools worldwide. As it stands, only a handful of schools included in the Financial Times’ 2021 Online MBA Ranking hold the same triple-accredited status.

“With huge swathes of the world of work having gone remote due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the launch of our new Flexible Executive MBA is certainly timely,” Professor Andrew Burke, dean and chair of business studies at Trinity Business School, says. “However, the reality is that this is four years in the making; having been prompted by growing trends in remote, flexible, juggling co-working parents and other new forms of working.”
