An Ozark man wanted for abducting two children died Wednesday following a shootout with authorities in northern Michigan, U.S. Marshals confirmed.

Giovanni McNab, 34, was reportedly the non-custodial father of at least one of the two children. He faced a felony warrant for abduction and parental kidnapping and had been on the run.

His wife and at least one of the children's apparent stepmother, Lindsey McNab, was also wanted.

One child was reported missing from Ozark and the other from was missing from Rolla, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol missing children reports that said the children were last seen with the McNabs.

The children were reportedly rescued during their operation and Lindsey McNab was arrested. A Marshal suffered a gunshot wound, according to a news release, and is in stable condition.

Authorities were able to track Giovanni McNab at a residence in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. He allegedly exited the home and fired several shots at the Marshals, according to a news release, and barricaded himself with the children inside the home.

"The standoff ended Wednesday night when (Special Operations Group) members approached the residence and found McNab, deceased," the U.S Marshals said in the news release. "It is unknown at this time how McNab died."
