The A.P.C. x Kid Cudi Collaboration Might Be The Surprise Style Hit Of The Year
A longtime protégé of Kanye West, Ohio rapper Kid Cudi is a good example of how workwear works within hip-hop garb.
But he's not particularly aligned with the whole French minimalist thing - the stuff that native brand A.P.C. has so fervently built a brand upon. The recently teased collab between the two, then, came as a big surprise.
A big surprise, but a good one. Referred to as 'INTERACTION #1', the hook-up has seen Cudi repurpose signature A.P.C. designs: white sneakers boasting vibrant 'CUDDER' branding, hand-painted overalls and a red leather jacket. So far, so un-A.P.C.

Upon release of the collaboration however, creative director and founder Jean Touitou explained the pairing: "When I first met [Kid Cudi], I immediately knew that we would work well together.... I could see it in the striking contrast between his simple, dignified allure and the surprising presence of a pink tattoo on his right hand, which says 'PINK' in capital letters."

We've yet to see the full fruits of such a communion. But in a time when celebrity-endorsed streetwear refuses to budge, it's a sound decision for an outfit building brand like A.P.C. to invest. Get excited.
