PA.Gov websites back online after being unavailable for some users

(WHTM) – Websites using PA.Gov were down for many users on Friday morning showing an “Error 20.” Services appear to have been restored on Friday afternoon.

The cause of the error is unclear at this time. The Office of Administration says the issue only affected “some” users and the issue was fixed by 1 p.m.

Earlier today, some internet users experienced a temporary inability to load some Commonwealth websites. Most users were able to access Commonwealth sites without issue. OA IT was quickly made aware of the difficulties some users experienced and deployed a solution that resolved the problem by 1pm.

The situation comes amid a rash of technical issues across the state government in recent weeks.

In January the Office of Administration confirmed a temporary data loss affecting Pennsylvania State Police and SERS. Nearly all of the affected data was restored and the cause was found to be human error.

In February a denial of service cyber attack hit the Pennsylvania Court websites and caused those websites to be down for several days. According to the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the cyber attack affected court web services that include PACFile, the use of online docket sheets, PAePay, and the Guardianship Tracking System.

Online court services have since been restored and the Associated Press reports there were no demands or ransom as part of the attack.
