Pace to pick up on National Pike development, NorthPoint official says
One company will take up all of the 1-million-square-foot warehouse going up on National Pike west of Hagerstown, according to the NorthPoint Development.
The client has not been disclosed.

NorthPoint also is putting up a 652,000-square-foot building on the same site. The company is seeking a client for that structure.
Both buildings are slated to be available early next year.
Construction has been going on for months. With above-ground work to start soon, NorthPoint Development held a formal groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning.
At that event, Brent Miles, a founding partner of NorthPoint and the company's chief marketing officer, said the development will create about 1,000 jobs.
He said about 400 of those are related to construction, and about 600 will be "direct, permanent jobs" once the buildings are up and running.
The project was originally estimated as a $147 million investment, he said. But that cost will rise because of inflation.
"I think we're going to be north of $150 million," Miles said.
The warehouses are being built at 16822 National Pike on what was once farmland. The project was referred to as "Dickinson Farm" on NorthPoint's initial planning documents.
On its website, NorthPoint refers to the facility as the National Pike Logistics Center.
The property is on the north side of U.S. 40, west of the intersection with Md. 144. It is in a "planned industrial district" under the county's zoning code.

Miles said most of the planning happened through the COVID-19 pandemic. He praised local officials for their work through the process.
"We were doing this through Zoom meetings," he said.
The pace of development will pick up at the site, he said, because walls will soon be going up.
Several governmental and business leaders attended the groundbreaking.
Warehouses on Wesel Boulevard
NorthPoint Development is based in Missouri.
The company also is behing the four-building warehouse complex on Wesel Boulevard.
Amazon is using two of those facilities. Herbalife Nutrition is operating in a third.
The company is seeking a client for the fourth building.
The largest building on Wesel Boulevard also measures about 1 million square feet. It was the first one finished, and it is being used by Amazon.
