Pacific to give NFL coach, school alumnus Pete Carroll honorary doctorate at commencement

University of the Pacific will celebrate its class of 2022 graduates at its all-school commencement on Saturday, May 14.

Among those celebrated, Pacific alumnus and Super Bowl-winning Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll will be presented with an honorary doctorate degree.

Pacific will award nearly 2,000 degrees at the Stockton, San Francisco and Sacramento campuses over the next several weekends. These include 851 undergraduates, 435 graduates and 662 professional students’ degrees.

Familiar community faces and Pacific alumni will return to campus not only to celebrate the university's community, but family members of their own, too.

Former NASA astronaut and alumnus Jose Hernandez will present his daughter Marisol with her graduate hood for the completion of her Master of Science degree in data analytics at the School of Engineering and Computer Science’s ceremony.

University of the Pacific Regent Mary Elizabeth Eberhardt and members of the family from the Bank of Stockton family will attend the Eberhardt School of Business graduation.

Four retiring professors will be recognized and are Order of the Pacific recipients, the university's top honor, including Gene Pearson who has taught at Pacific for 51 years.
