'Packed Like Sardines': Bicyclist in West Hollywood Shows Crowded Bars Ahead of Closure Order

Ahead of an order to close from California Governor Gavin Newsom, the bars and restaurants along San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood were overflowing on March 15. The crowds were observed despite nationwide calls for social distancing.

According to reports, Newsom called for the closure order to go into effect at midnight on Sunday. In Los Angeles, bars and nightclubs closed and restaurants shuttered dine-in services and limited takeout orders until March 31, the Los Angeles Times reported. Movie theaters, gyms, and fitness centers also will be closed, but grocery stores, pharmacies, and food banks will remain open, the report said.
