GREEN BAY – Green Bay Packers Foundation recently awarded more than $1.5 million in grants for organizations in Wisconsin.
The foundation gave $1.35 million to seven nonprofit organizations in Brown, Dane and Milwaukee counties, and $200,000 for athletic field replacement in Appleton.
"These funds will help care for our most vulnerable neighbors and ensure kids, families and individuals in our communities have what they need to learn, grow and thrive," said Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy.
Grants to the nonprofit organizations included:
Brown County
$250,000 matching grant to Curative Connections Inc. in Brown County for its Yesteryear Village project, which cares for people with memory loss.
$100,000 to Syble Hopp School for vocational/community training equipment.
$250,000 matching grant to Bellin Health Foundation Inc. for neonatal intensive care unit and maternity project.
$200,000 matching grant to Golden House Inc. for a new, larger facility. Golden House is a domestic abuse shelter.

The Packers foundation also awarded $200,000 to the Challenger League and Fox Valley Pop Warner for field replacement at Plamann Park in Appleton. The money, obtained through the NFL Club Matching Field Grant Program, will be used to match locally raised money.
The Challenger League offers a flag football program for children with disabilities in second grade through high school. Players from Green Bay to Oshkosh can participate in the league, the only one of its kind in the state.

The field redevelopment program will include an accessible athletic field with synthetic turf, lighting and site amenities, an accessible walkway connecting the field to the restrooms and a new handicap parking area.
The field will be used by the Challenger League and other youth football and flag football organizations, as well as youth lacrosse, youth soccer and community events. Project competition is planned for fall 2023.
This is the fifth Packers grant in conjunction with the NFL program and the 20th athletic field and stadium improvement grant by the Packers since 1998. Grants since 1998 add up to $3.1 million.
