Packers GM says there’s no timeline on trading Aaron Rodgers to Jets, doesn’t necessarily need first-round pick

The football world continues to wait to see when the New York Jets will actually acquire Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. And based on comments Monday from Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, the wait will continue and there isn’t any set timetable to cross the finish line, but the hope is it isn’t far away.
Speaking to the media at the Annual League Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, Gutekunst said there is no timetable for trading Rodgers. However, he is hoping it will happen soon. The draft is a month away and that seems to be the next tipping point for a trade to go down.

As far as the compensation is concerned, Gutekunst said the Packers don’t necessarily need to acquire a first-round pick in a potential deal. The prevailing thought in recent weeks has been the Jets will be able to hang on to the 13th pick but likely send a second-round pick — the Jets now have two thanks to the Elijah Moore trade — as well as a conditional pick in 2024.
Everyone is on pins and needles at this point just waiting for this long episode to finally reach its conclusion.
