Packers release CB Quinton Dunbar from practice squad

Quinton Dunbar’s stay in Green Bay didn’t even last a week.

The Green Bay Packers released the veteran cornerback from the practice squad on Tuesday. He was originally signed to the practice squad on Wednesday of last week.

The Packers needed to make room to sign edge rusher Aaron Adeoye to the practice squad. Adeoye (6-6, 260) was in town for a tryout on Monday. An undrafted free agent from Southeast Missouri State, Adeoye spent his first two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, mostly on the practice squad.

Injuries might have forced the Packers’ hand. The cornerback group got an encouraging debut from Rasul Douglas on Sunday in Chicago, and Kevin King is considered day to day in his recovery from a shoulder injury, meaning he could return Sunday against Washington. However, the outlook is worse at outside linebacker, where Za’Darius Smith, Chauncey Rivers and Randy Ramsey are on injured reserve and now Preston Smith is dealing with an oblique injury.

Adeoye joins Tipa Galeai as outside linebackers on the Packers practice squad. He will wear No. 98.
