Packers roll over Rams, reach NFC Championship Game

The Green Bay Packers used a dominant run game, three total touchdowns from Aaron Rodgers and a good enough effort from Mike Pettine’s defense to roll past the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round on Saturday at Lambeau Field.

The 32-18 win over the Rams booked Matt LaFleur’s team a trip to the NFC Championship Game. The Packers will host either the New Orleans Saints or Tampa Bay Buccaneers next Sunday at Lambeau Field.

The NFC’s No. 1 seed led for much of the game and enjoyed a double-digit during three different points of the contest. The Rams pulled within six points at the half and seven points in the fourth quarter, but the Packers never trailed in the game.

The No. 1 offense against the No. 1 defense was a one-sided battle.

The Packers produced nearly 500 total yards and scored 32 points. Rodgers threw for 296 yards, tossed two touchdown passes and ran for a third score. Running backs Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillon combined for nearly 200 rushing yards. Davante Adams and Allen Lazard both caught touchdown passes.

The Packers were 8-for-12 on third downs and 3-for-4 scoring touchdowns in the red zone, continuing the offense’s situational dominance.

The defense didn’t get a turnover, but Jared Goff was sacked four times and the Rams produced only 244 total yards.

During the regular season, the Packers beat the Saints in New Orleans but lost to the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay.
