Packers Wire staff predictions: Week 13 vs. Eagles

The Green Bay Packers have a chance to get to 9-3 when they host the struggling Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at Lambeau Field. Doug Pederson’s team has lost three straight games and is now 3-7-1 after 11 games.

Here’s how the staff at Packers Wire believes the Week 13 matchup with the Eagles will go down:

Zach Kruse (7-4): Packers 34, Eagles 17

The Eagles could stress the Packers in some notable ways, particularly with consistent pressure on defense and potentially even running the ball from big formations on offense. The Packers would still need to fail to meet the challenge in both areas for the Eagles to pull off the upset. The guess here is that the Packers offensive line continues to play at a high level, giving Aaron Rodgers a chance to score a lot of points, and the defense has little issue corralling an offense with such a big problem at quarterback. A few takeaways early help the Packers build a lead and cruise to a comfortable win.

Jack Wepfer (8-3): Packers 30, Eagles 20

This Eagles team has the smell of desperation. Carson Wentz is throwing interceptions left and right. The offense is in shambles. Doug Pederson is considering giving up play calling – always a desperation move (see: Nagy, Matt or McCarthy, Mike). While Wentz played quite well last year against the Packers a season ago, I don’t see it playing out that way this time. The Packers are much more consistent offensively, whereas the Eagles…aren’t. As a result, I’m taking the Packers.

Marty Kauffman (8-3): Packers 38, Eagles 20

After last week’s win over Chicago, the Packers offense should continue to roll on Sunday against Philadelphia. The Eagles enter Sunday in a bad spot after a Monday night loss to Seattle where the offense could not muster any success with quarterback Carson Wentz. Green Bay should be able to get pressure on Wentz and force turnovers. Sunday’s game on paper should be a W for Green Bay

Anthony Nash (8-3): Packers 35, Eagles 21

After taking down the Bears, the Packers have another opponent that’s been struggling as of late in the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite having played each other last year, the Eagles are a bit of a different team this time around, and Green Bay shouldn’t have trouble getting to Carson Wentz, although getting to make mistakes is going to be key. As for the offense, the Packers will likely once again lean heavily on the passing game, and should be in for another big day, especially with how they’ve been playing recently.

Nolan Stracke (10-1): Packers 35, Eagles 24

The Packers’ offense made a good Bears’ defense look bad last week and now host the Eagles, whose strength is also in their defense. Also like the Bears, The Eagles have a turnover-prone quarterback in Carson Wentz. He’s thrown 15 picks and has fumbled 10 times this season. Their offensive line is also a wreck. Doug Petersen may get creative with quarterback Jalen Hurts, but it won’t be enough if Aaron Rodgers gets any extra possessions off turnovers. The Packers are a much better team at this point in the season and it’ll show.

Joe Kipp (9-2): Packers 27, Eagles 17

The Eagles have a sneaky good defense, but the Packers offense is just too good. Green Bay leads the NFL in points per game (31.7) and ranks fourth in total offense (392.2 yards per game). Aaron Rodgers is playing out of his mind at the moment and has been a legitimate MVP candidate. On the flip side, Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is having arguably his worst season as a pro. Philadelphia’s offense is a mess. It’s hard to see Wentz and the Eagles out-dueling Rodgers at Lambeau.

Brandon Carwile (4-3): Packers 30, Eagles 21

In Week 4 of last season, Philadelphia dominated Green Bay in the trenches on both sides of the ball. This week, the Packers need to show they can hang against a physical opponent. Carson Wentz has been sacked 46 times already in 2020, so look for a disruptive day from the Green Bay pass rush. The Packers offense should look to run the ball early and often to set the tone for the day. Last season, they struggled to run against the Eagles front but Green Bay should look to change flip the script this time around. Aaron Rodgers should have no trouble throwing to his receivers, but a strong rushing attack could put this game out of reach sooner rather than later.
