Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. The Dallas City Council approved paid mental health leave for Dallas firefighters on Wednesday. The measure was in response to an increase in suicides. Previously, only Dallas police officers were allowed paid mental health leave. A study shed light on a harrowing statistic that reported that more firefighters die from suicide each year than from being in the line of duty. (WFAA.com)

  2. The Dallas City Council in partnership with several Texas lawmakers has denounced the Russian invasion of Ukraine through a resolution. Mayor Johnson proposed the resolution on Wednesday and it was approved unanimously. Another effort wants the state pension funds to divest from Russia. (CBS Dallas / Fort Worth)

  3. The Central Library will be open on Friday night by the Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions as a warming shelter. The decision to open the library come after a frigid forecast was issued for the Dallas region. Rapid Response COVID-19 testing will also be available at the library for the homeless population.
