Is Paige Leaving 'Virgin River'? Here's Our Theory About Season 5

Okay, Virgin River fans, let's talk.

By now, most of us have probably gotten around to finishing up season 4 on Netflix and we can agree that (most of) our burning questions were answered. Yes, we can finally rest knowing who the actual father of Mel's baby is. And more importantly, we know who really shot Jack! But the Virgin River creators still left us with a few cliffhangers, and we're just dying for answers.

Naturally, like any TV viewer out there, we've come up with some theories about what's to come in season 5 (which has already started filming!). While there's a lot we can dive into, one question seems to be taking center stage: What's next for Preacher and Paige?

In case you need a refresh on the Paige and Preacher situation, we'll give you a brief rundown. Warning: there are major spoilers ahead! 😱

Paige made her expected return towards the end of season 4. Viewers watched as she navigated the ongoing drama between her and Vince. The situation escalated during the show's finale when Vince held Paige at gunpoint, demanding answers to Wes's burial. Preacher, who was present, chimed in and told Vince that he was the one who buried Wes. This sparked an intense brawl between the two, which eventually led to Preacher knocking out Vince (with a fire log).

This all unfolded so fast, and our minds were left racing. Now that we've had time to channel it all, here's what we've come up with.

Vince could still be alive.

We all saw Vince fall to the ground after his hard hit to the head. But in all fairness, that's all we saw. A lot of us might have jumped for joy thinking Preacher, Paige, and her son were finally safe. (And we're keeping our fingers!) But because we don't know if he's actually dead, we won't know how safe the crew is until next season.

Police could arrest Preacher.

You know what they say: There are two sides to every story. If Vince is in fact dead, this could mean trouble for Preacher if he doesn't think of a plan. Yes, we know he was acting in self-defense. But given everything, there might not be enough to prove it. And, what will Preacher say the reasoning behind the altercation was? It's not like he can tell the police that Vince attacked them after hearing that Preacher buried Wes. That would turn into a whole different situation.

Paige could run away again.

We hope that this isn't true. But there are some concrete facts to support this theory. Paige has been on the run many times. And after recently coming out of hiding, Paige could very well face legal repercussions. For one, she took Christopher away from his father. And we can't forget that she's the one responsible for Wes's death. And... she did leave Christopher alone with Preacher without giving any timestamp of when she'd be back. If Paige needed a reason to run again, this is it.

It's also not likely that Paige and Preacher will rekindle their love story. Preacher admitted to having feelings for a new character, Julia. And while the show could potentially introduce another love triangle, it seems likely that Paige will just remove herself from that situation.

With all these theories, we're feeling pretty antsy. We're just glad that Virgin River season 5 is already on its way with filming! 🙌
