Pairings finalized for state Class A, B boys basketball tournaments
Here are the pairings for next week's South Dakota state Class A and B boys basketball tournaments.
The tourneys runs March 16-18 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls (Class A) and the Barnett Center in Aberdeen (Class B).
Class A
Thursday, March 16
No. 1 Dakota Valley (23-0) vs. No. 8 Hot Springs (19-4), noon
No. 4 Sioux Valley (21-2) vs. No. 5 Hamlin (19-3), 1:45 p.m.
No. 2 St. Thomas More (20-2) vs. No. 7 Elk Point-Jefferson (17-5), 6 p.m.
No. 3 Sioux Falls Christian (19-4) vs. No. 6 Mount Vernon-Plankinton, 7:45 p.m.
Class B
Thursday, March 16
No. 1 Lower Brule (20-3) vs. No. 8 Castlewood (18-5), noon
No. 4 Faith (22-1) vs. No. 5 White River (19-4) 1:45 p.m.
No. 2 Aberdeen Christian (21-2) vs. No. 7 Ethan (20-3), 6 p.m.
No. 3 De Smet (20-3) vs. No. 6 Viborg-Hurley (20-3), 7:45 p.m.
Thursday's SoDak 16 Games
Class A (No. 2 St. Thomas More 52, No. 15 McLaughlin 34): Lee Neugebauer's 23 points led the Cavaliers (20-2) to victory in a game played at Rapid City Central High School. Jordan Uhlir added eight points and Will Green seven points and eight rebounds.
Jre Antelope notched 12 points, Lane Lawrence nine and Elias Sims eight for McLaughlin (12-9).
Class B (No. 4 Faith 75, No. 13 Northwestern 64): The Longhorns improved to 22-1 with the win at Timber Lake High School. Northwestern finished the season at 17-6.
Jackson Schauer poured in 29 points for Faith, which also got 13 points from Jess Harper and 10 from Matthew Gray.
Quintin Fischbach scored 22 points, Chase Neiber 17 and Lincoln Woodring and Nathan Melius each 10 for Northwestern.
