Jan. 30—With the regular season closing in the next couple of weeks, the path of the gold ball trophy has become clear as the Class A Basketball playoff pairings released this past week.

Central High and Empire will appear in Class A Area III, while Velma-Alma has been placed in Class A Area IV and two of those Stephens County teams will travel for districts except for Central High.

Central High will host the eighth district for Class A Area III and will have Ringling and Calumet coming to the district playoffs.

Both Central High teams will play in the win-or-go-home game as they will play against Ringling with the Lady Bronchos going first at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 and the Bronchos going next at 8 p.m. Feb. 11 at home.

If either team wins those games, they will ensure the advancement to Regionals and will go on to try and make their journey easy with a victory during the district championship game.

District Championship games will take place at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 for the girls' game and the boys' game will follow at 8 p.m. Feb. 12 with the winners of both games facing Calumet.

Central High is the sub-site for Regionals and will host day one on Feb. 17 before moving on to the main site at Geronimo High School.

Empire will appear in district six, which is located at Cyril High School, with both the girls and boys playing in the win-or-go-home game on the first day of districts against Ninnekah.

The Lady Bulldogs will play at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Cyril High School, followed by the Bulldogs playing Ninnekah at 8 p.m. Feb. 11 at Cyril High School.

Winners of those games will play in the district championship and be guaranteed to move to Regionals which is hosted at Geronimo High School the next week.

Cyril got the bye and will already play in the district title games and will await the winner of the Empire and Ninnekah games.

The final Class A team is Velma-Alma and they will head to Allen for district play with the Lady Comets playing in the win-or-go-home game and the Comets getting the bye into the district championship game.

The Lady Comets will play Elmore City-Pernell at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 11 at Allen High School with the winner moving on to face host Allen at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 12 at Allen High School.

The Comets will await the winner of Allen and Elmore City-Pernell that will play at 8 p.m. Feb. 11 with their first game being played at 8 p.m. Feb. 12 at Allen High School, with the Comets guaranteed to play at Regionals.

Allen will be the sub-site for Regionals where the Comets will play day one guaranteed and the Lady Comets will play if they get past the win-or-go-home game in district play.

Empire and Central High, if they advance past Regionals, the area round will be played at Cache High School, while Velma-Alma if they advance past Regionals, the area round will be played at Shawnee High School.

Updates or scores for all the playoff rounds will publish in the Tuesday editions of The Duncan Banner unless weather postponements happen and causes the schedule to delay.
