Pakistan resumes partial train service after almost two months stoppage

Train services resumed partially across Pakistan on Wednesday (May 20) after being suspended for almost two months due to the coronavirus lockdown.

During the first phase, 30 trains will began their journey between various provinces, and the country is looking to resume full train services from June 1.

Train passengers must reach the station an hour earlier and no visitors will be allowed to enter the station premises for seeing off passengers. Trains are also allowed to carry only 60% of their total passenger capacity to ensure social distancing is maintained.

Pakistan on Wednesday reported a total of 45,898 cases of the coronavirus across the country, with 985 deaths.
