The town of Palm Beach is seeking to fill seats on three panels, and the application deadline for two of them is looming.

Those wishing apply for open seats on the Shore Protection Board and Recreation Advisory Commission have until Friday at 5 p.m. to submit their applications.

Applicants for one seat on the Code Enforcement Board must apply by July 29.

The Town Council will hear presentations from eligible applicants for the Shore Protection Board and Recreation Advisory Commission and make appointments at its July 12 regular meeting.

Presentations from eligible applicants for the Code Enforcement Board will be heard by the town council at its Aug. 9 regular meeting.

The Shore Protection Board has an opening for one regular position.

Appointees are required to be registered electors and residents of the town. However, non-town residents who possesses specific knowledge or skills directly related to shore protection, coastal management, and beach nourishment also are encouraged to apply.

Appointees shall not be a member of another Town board or commission.

The Shore Protection Board acts in an advisory capacity to the town council and makes recommendations on all matters relating to shore protection in the town. It is composed of seven members.

The Recreation Advisory Commission has an opening for one regular position.

Appointees are required to be a registered voter in the town. Preference will be given to candidates who are enrolled or have their children enrolled in a recreation department program, or are a regular participant or volunteer at a town recreation department facility.

The Recreation Advisory Commission acts in an advisory capacity and makes recommendations to the town council on matters relating to town recreation programs and facilities. It is composed of seven members.

The Code Enforcement Board has an opening for one member.

Applicants must be registered voters of the town, and will be appointed by town council on the basis of experience or interest in the fields of zoning and building control.

The board includes, whenever possible, an architect, a business person, an engineer, a general contractor,  a Realtor, a subcontractor, a general member, or a person with experience in the field of public health.

The Code Enforcement Board hears cases involving violations of the town code and ordinances, and imposes administrative fines and other noncriminal penalties where a pending or repeated violation exists.
