Palm Beach County's cheapest gas costs 14 cents less per gallon this week. Here's where.

WEST PALM BEACH — Gas prices in Palm Beach County are dropping this week, with Monday's prices down 14 cents per gallon from last week, nearly mirroring a drop seen statewide.

Two gas stations in the county showed prices at $2.61, down from last week's low of $2.75. Statewide, the per-gallon average was $3, the lowest price of 2023, according to the American Automobile Association. Monday's per-gallon average for Florida was about 15 cents lower than last week.

"Oil and gasoline futures prices plummeted last week, after a weekly fuel report showed strong refinery activity, leading to big gains in gasoline supplies," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA-The Auto Club Group.

"About 35% of Florida gas stations now have fuel below $3 a gallon. Nearly 10% of retailers have prices in the low $2.70s. While prices could bounce around in the coming weeks, drivers should expect pump prices to remain low through the holidays unless oil prices suddenly spike," he said.

The West Palm Beach-to-Boca Raton metro market usually has the most expensive gas in Florida, averaging $3.21 per gallon, in part because of a Palm Beach County tax on gasoline sales. That's a drop of 11 cents from last week's county average of $3.32. Naples ($3.13) and Sebring ($3.09) were the next highest.

The state's cheapest gas on average can be found in the Crestview, Fort Walton Beach area ($2.83), Pensacola and Panama City (both $2.85) in the Florida Panhandle.

The following per-gallon prices were posted Monday morning on the website www.GasBuddy.com and represent the lowest for these parts of Palm Beach County.

  • Northern Palm Beach County: Sunoco, 774 Northlake Blvd., Lake Park, and Rocket Fuel, 100 N. Federal Highway, North Palm Beach, $2.61.

  • Central Palm Beach County: Chevron, 3707 Broadway, Riviera Beach, $2.63.

  • Western Palm Beach County: RaceTrac, 6025 Lake Worth Road, Greenacres, and Costco, 11001 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, $2.87.

  • Southern Palm Beach County: BJ's, 1540 W. Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, $2.82.
