Palm Beach DAR gives holiday help to vet families

For the Palm Beach chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, November's luncheon was a twofer.

The event, which took place Nov. 30 at Café Boulud, incorporated two of the organization's missions historic preservation and service to veterans in one gathering.

Oh, and there was a holiday tablescape display thrown in the mix, too.

Several members launched into the holiday spirit by participating in the display, showcasing their creative talents by designing festive tabletops.

Guest speaker Amanda Skier, president and chief executive officer of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, gave a talk titled "The Little Red School House: Creating a New Context at Phipps Ocean Park." The campaign to restore the 20-acre oceanfront parcel has entered the public phase and is scheduled to be completed in mid-2024.

Chapter Regent Jill Davis announced that the chapter's members were sponsoring 13 families through the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund by donating basic staples as well as filling each family’s holiday wish list.
