RIVIERA BEACH — A 40-year-old man driving a motorcycle was killed Friday evening at a city intersection when a hit-and-run driver ran a red light and struck him, police said Saturday.

Nicholas Baccari of Palm Beach Gardens was on his 2002 Suzuki MC at about 6:10 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Avenue S and West Blue Heron Boulevard in Riviera Beach when he was struck by a 2020 Nissan Altima, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

The Altima, which had a California license plate and was traveling north on Avenue S, had failed to stop at the red light at Blue Heron Boulevard. The Altima then entered the intersection and hit Baccari's motorcycle on the left side. The collision sent Baccari into the front of a third vehicle, a 2013 Hyundai Elantra, police said.

The driver of the Altima fled the scene and has not been identified.
