Palm Beach Insider: Ellis Island Honors Society medal winners have Palm Beach connection
One would think that being a resident of Palm Beach would provide for a goodly amount of rarefied company, but former Ambassador Nancy Brinker, Howard and Wendy Cox Bingham, Jennifer and former Ambassador David Fischer, and Nasser Kazeminy have taken it up a notch.
Brinker, the Fischers and the Coxes are recipients of the Medal of Honor Award from the Ellis Island Honors Society, of which Kazeminy — a former medalist — is chairman.
The award is given to distinguished Americans of immigrant descent, as well as non-Americans of remarkable character, for their contributions to the world.
The presentation took place earlier this month at the society's 35th anniversary black-tie celebration in the Great Hall at Ellis Island.
“We are delighted to be able to gather again on Ellis Island and celebrate our 35th anniversary with an incredible roster of honorees," Kazeminy said. “The past two years have tested us as a nation and we persevered. Now, we look forward to celebrating our honorees who embody the fortitude and integrity of this great country.”
Previous recipients include presidents, Nobel laureates, generals, Supreme Court justices, secretaries of state, civil rights pioneers, athletes, royalty and entertainers.
So, who are you playing bridge with today?
