Palm Beach Insider: Inaugural reception celebrates legacy givers in women's philanthropy

Wealth advisory officer Coventry Edwards-Pitt was the featured speaker at a reception to introduce Impact the Palm Beach's Legacy Society.

The reception took place April 30 at the Palm Beach home of Danielle Moore, mayor of Palm Beach and founding member of the Legacy Society.

The al fresco gathering included cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, music and remarks by speaker Edwards-Pitt.

The speaker, a partner and chief creative officer at Ballentine Partners and the author of "Aged Healthy, Wealthy & Wise," shared seminal points in her book, focusing on designing a vibrant and purposeful later life and legacy.

More than 60 Legacy Society members — current Impact the Palm Beaches members who have contributed for a minimum of three consecutive years — attended.

Proceeds benefit Impact The Palm Beaches, a philanthropic organization where women collectively give to nonprofits in central and northern Palm Beach County to ignite transformational change.

Impact members contribute $1,000 annually and award $100,000 grants to local nonprofit organizations in the service areas of Arts & Culture; Education; Environment and Animal Welfare; Health & Wellness; and Family.

Members share the commitment to invest in innovative projects in the community.

Impact the Palm Beaches has awarded $886,000 in grants in the past six years and that amount will grow to more than $1 million later this month.

Impact the Palm Beaches is a charitable fund of the Town of Palm Beach United Way.
