Like lots of other seasonal Palm Beach residents, rocker Rod Stewart has multiple homes where he can hang his famous fedora.

But the “Maggie May” singer could have one fewer if his Californian mansion near Beverly Hills lands a buyer. The estate at 23 Beverly Park Terrace recently listed at $70 million.

The mansion — with 13 bedrooms and 28,500 square feet — presides over 3 acres in the gated Beverly Park community of Los Angeles. He built the custom estate, with its 4,500-square-foot guesthouse, after buying the property vacant for $12 million in 1991.

Four years later, Stewart bought his Palm Beach oceanfront estate at 1435 S. Ocean Blvd. on the section of coastal road known to locals as Billionaire’s Row. The native Brit and wife, Penny Lancaster, are sometimes spotted shopping and dining in Palm Beach.

The Beverly Park listing was recently promoted in a recent edition of TopTenRealEstateDeals.com. A bit flamboyant, just like the owner, the home has a striking yellow exterior, a large Las Vegas-style fountain and ornate double doors that welcome visitors to the home’s grand foyer,” the website said.

With interiors decorated in lavish Old World style, the mansion was designed by architect Richard Landry. The layout includes sitting rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a tearoom, a dining room that seats 20, an elaborate bar and a wood-paneled library. French doors open to a covered loggia, while terraces offer views of the expansive pool, the city and the surrounding canyon.

Buyers in the mood to haggle over the price might want to save their breath. At least that’s what Stewart all but said in a new interview with People Magazine. The rocker said he adored the house and wouldn’t “take a penny under what I've asked for.”

It appears he is holding firm to the $70-million asking price because he's in no rush to sell the place at a discount.

“Basically, I don't want to sell it, and the kids don't want me to sell if either,” Stewart told People. “There's too many fond memories.”

Stewart also told the magazine he would be spending more time in England once he finishes his world concert tour and Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace's this fall.
