Palm Coast man killed in Putnam County motorcycle crash

A 57-year-old Palm Coast man was killed Wednesday when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Putnam County, according ot the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Palm Coast man was riding a 2013 Harley-Davidson eastbound on State Road 20 east of County Road 20A at 8:31 p.m. when the motorcycle crossed over the double solid yellow lines and into the westbound lanes, according to FHP.

The left side of the motorcycle sidewiped the front left side of a Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 24-year-old Archer man, according to the FHP. A 15-year-old male from Bronson was a passenger in the pickup.

Both people in the pickup were wearing seatbelts and were not injured.

The Harley-Davidson overturned and the rider was thrown from the bike. Both the motorcycle and rider then slid into a road section that was closed for construction, the FHP stated.

He died at the scene, the FHP stated.

FHP also stated the rider was wearing a helmet that was not compliant with safety standards.
