The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will remain closed on Friday because additional time is required to make repairs to unspecified technical issues.

The tramway was closed on Wednesday after technical issues were discovered during a routine morning inspection, according to Greg Purdy, a spokesperson for the tramway.

Weather-related delays to repairs are to blame for the extended closure on Friday.

"Regrettably, yesterday's thunderstorms prevented us from commencing our repair work, so this extra closure day was unavoidable," said Vice President of Tramway Systems Chris Bartsch.

The tramway is scheduled to reopen on Saturday.
