The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is set to resume operations Wednesday morning after being closed for much of the past three days because of a technical problem.

The first tram car up the mountain will depart at 10 a.m. on Wednesday with the tram then operating regularly for the remainder of the day with the last car up departing at 8 p.m. and the last car down at 9:30 p.m., according to a press release.

The tram initially closed for about three hours Sunday morning because of what was described as a power outage related to a storm in the area. However, that power outage was later resolved and the tram briefly reopened at 11 a.m. before closing again at about 3:40 p.m. It remained closed for the next two days.

The tramway's vice president of maintenance said the closure was the result of issues the tram's electrical board began having on Sunday, which are believed to have been caused by power surges from the storm that brought snow and rain to Mount San Jacinto over the past few days.

"We have since remedied the issue and have run multiple tests to make sure everything is operating as usual," the tram's vice president of maintenance Joe Rose said.
