The Palm Springs Art Museum is hosting a series of local pop-up food vendors in its Meyerman and Elrod sculpture gardens this month.

The vendors will serve as a temporary alternative to Persimmon Bistro and Wine Bar, which closed last month after chef and proprietor Arthur Vasquez and the museum failed to reach a new contract.

The pop-ups include local businesses from Mexican food vendor Tacon’Todo to Valley Fusion Sushi and Popping Off Pies hand-tossed pizzas. They’ll be on site for roughly the next 4 to 6 weeks, according to museum spokesperson Scott Slaven, with specific vendors varying depending on the day.

The museum currently has a pop-up schedule through March 19 posted on its website, which Slaven said will be updated with future dates for “as long as we need to.”

Slaven also said the museum is planning a permanent replacement for Persimmon this fall, but won't be able to provide further details on that new restaurant for several weeks. In the meantime, he said the museum is looking at hosting a temporary restaurant in the space following the end of the pop-ups later this spring.

He added that the museum also wasn’t able to provide additional details about that temporary restaurant at this time, citing ongoing negotiations.

Until then, here is the plan for the next week-and-a-half of pop-ups so you can sample the variety of local vendors on offer and opine on what should find a permanent home at the museum:
