Palm Springs man, 44, dies after car crashes west of Lake Worth Beach, PBSO says

LAKE WORTH BEACH — A 44-year-old Palm Springs man died Tuesday after losing control of his car in suburban Lake Worth Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators say Julio Capriel Ramos was westbound on Melaleuca Lane at 5:30 p.m. when his 2000 Lincoln LS began to rotate counterclockwise "for unknown reasons" as it approached Mathis Street, about half a mile east of Military Trail.

The Lincoln spun 180 degrees while running south off the roadway. It crossed Melaleuca’s eastbound lanes, jumped the curb and hit a tree and a concrete fence support before stopping, according to PBSO's crash report. It does not say how fast the car was traveling at the moment of impact.

Paramedics took Ramos to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he died about an hour after the wreck, investigators said.
