PALO ALTO, CA — Palo Alto senior care facilities are gearing up for COVID-19 vaccinations, with the administration of first doses already underway in at least one facility, Palo Alto Weekly reports.

Channing House was scheduled to start administering on-site vaccines to residents and staff Monday according to the report. A second dose is required three weeks later.

It is among at least three Palo Alto senior care facilities that are readying for vaccines according to the report. Webster House Health Center and Lytton Gardens are the others.

Channing House’s CEO and Executive Director Rhonda Bekkedahl confirmed that her facility would be administering vaccinations before the end of the calendar year according to the report.

"We are very excited to be receiving the first dose of the vaccine this month," Bekkedahl wrote in an email to Palo Alto Weekly last week.

"The availability of the vaccine has given our residents, staff and their families hope. Hope that this pandemic will one day be in the past. The presence of this hope, alone, has improved the general morale of everyone on campus."

Vaccinations at Webster House Health Center and Lytton Gardens won’t start until mid-January according to the report.
