Paloma Faith ‘Quits The Voice’ After Comparing BBC Singing Show To A Sinking Ship
Critics have drawn comparisons between the Titanic and The Voice before.
Now judge Paloma Faith has appeared to quit as a judge on the show, days before the series’ final.
The singer, 34, wrote an Instagram post hours after her remaining acts were knocked out of the struggling talent contest at the weekend, comparing it to a sinking ship.
Faith, above, who joined the panel in January, said: ‘Last night I went down with the ship, power dressing in possibly my last foray into reality TV shows.
‘I may not be built for them but I am definitely built for getting lost in music. Caught in a trap. No turning back.’
Her post, below, is a blow for BBC chiefs who have seen ratings fall by 3.4 million.
Faith also told her Twitter followers she was ‘gutted’ her wannabe singers Heather Cameron-Hayes and Jordan Gray failed to get enough votes to go through to this Saturday’s final.
She has previously hinted she was unhappy and even spoke of leaving after her debut the chair-spinning blind auditions.
And last month she confessed she dreaded working on the show because of sexist abuse she gets online after her appearances.
She said: “I’m quite fragile about it. I have moments when I don’t want to get out of bed because I don’t want to go back.”
A TV source told The Sun: “This is disastrous timing with the final just round the corner.
But Paloma’s not the type of person to play the corporate game.”
Faith, above with her fellow Voice judges, would be the third female coach to quit after one series.
Rita Ora and Kylie Minogue bowed out after none of their hopefuls made the finals.
The Voice, moving to ITV1 next year, opened this series with 8.7 million viewers but Saturday’s semi-final pulled in only 5.3 million.
Faith’s abuse of the show comes after her team member Beth Morris quit last month after she admitted being a cocaine addict.
And coaches Ricky Wilson and Will.i.am have both told The Sun they will leave this year.
A spokesman for Faith insisted to The Sun she had yet to quit.
