Bay View restaurant Palomino is closed due to staffing shortages.

The restaurant, owned by PIE Inc., which also operates Honeypie, Smallpie and Comet, plans to close until next year, according to its website.

The other restaurants remain open, along with Honeypie Bakeshop. Private events, special dinner parties and whiskey socials at Palomino will continue as planned. New private event rentals at Palomino may become available in the future as well.

Owner Valeri Lucks did not respond to a request for an interview.

"Due to the severe staffing shortages in our industry brought about by the pandemic, we are taking a pause at Palomino and re-focusing our teams to our other cafes," according to a note on the website. "We still operate Honeypie Bakeshop at Palomino as well as our PIE Inc administrative services - so we are still here, just not making burgers and pouring whiskey for the moment."

Palomino, at 2491 S. Superior St.,  is known for its Southern-style fare and for including vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu. It opened in 2002.
