BORGER — Through the first two innings of District 4-4A game Tuesday against Borger, the Pampa softball team was locked in a fast moving, scoreless softball contest.

Then, the Lady Harvesters' bats did what they do so often as they caught fire.

Pampa got a pair of home runs in the second inning and wound up piling 11 on the board, while Kynleigh Kirby struck out 11 in the circle, resulting in Pampa claiming an 11-1 six-inning, run-rule victory.

"We just talked about being disciplined at the plate and knowing what we're looking for," said Pampa head coach Dottie Hawthorne, whose squad improved to 13-2 overall and 5-0 in in district action. "We were slow going (early on) and I was like, 'Where are we at today?' But we finally found it, it just took a little bit of time."

The Lady Harvesters found it alright.

Maecie Hawthorne opened up the third inning with a solo home run before McKinley Daniels hit an RBI single to make it 2-0. Kirby blasted a two-run homer to increase the lead to 4-0 before the inning was over.

Cambree Dyer scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning to stretch the lead to five and Pampa really broke things open in the fifth. Hallie Hawthorne was walked with the bases loaded to score Stanhope before Dyer's RBI single scored Karina Gonzalez. Briana Cloud scored on an RBI groundout from Maecie Hawthorne to make it an 8-0 game.

Credit Borger for not giving up.

Brooklyn Cassanetta hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth to score Hadley Young and get the Lady Bulldogs (11-13-1, 2-3) on the scoreboard.

Pampa was set on ending things early, however, and Stanhope's two-run RBI single to score Hunt and Daniels got them within one run of making that happen in the top of the sixth. Stanhope later scored on a passed ball to make it 11-1 and Borger went 1-2-3 to end the contest.

Kirby, along with fanning double-digit batters, gave up two hits in the circle and blasted a home run for her only hit. Stanhope went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
